Hungary Day 4 - Budapest (part 4)

Fisherman's Bastion
view from the Fisherman's Bastion
We visited the Fisherman's Bastion on our last day in Budapest. Unfortunatly we didn't go by tram, as we had parked on the other side of the castle hill, thus we walked. Trust me, that's a great warm up in weather like that. ^^"

Click for more sights of the Bastion (also called Disney Castle sometimes), King Saint Stephen's modern sculpture and the Matthias Church.

"The Halászbástya Hungarian pronunciation: [ˈhɒlaːsbaːʃcɒ] or Fisherman's Bastion is a terrace in neo-Gothic and neo-Romanesque style situated on the Buda bank of the Danube, on the Castle hill in Budapest, around Matthias Church. It was designed and built between 1895 and 1902 on the plans of Frigyes Schulek. Between 1947–48, the son of Frigyes Schulek, János Schulek, conducted the other restoration project after its near destruction during World War II. (Source Wikipedia)"

You could donate money for the restauration of this old car. If you look trough the window you see the small coin holder and a sign for donation.

We walked around almost all afternoon here in Buda, had dinner near the statue from the above picture at Café Miró. I had the chicken paprikash with buttered noodle dumplings. It was so-so. We had to wait till nigh fall (which is around 9PM in Hungary) to get some awesome shots of the parlements building and the Fisherman's Bastion itself at night. That will be the next post! :]
